WHAT IS HOMEWORK? 

Homework is:

• Completing unfinished class work
• Working on assignments and research
• Completing set homework sheets and exercises
• Preparation for a test, including revision
• Reading
• Preparation for the next day’s lessons

WHY IS HOMEWORK IMPORTANT? 

• It helps you to catch up
• It gives you time to practise skills and problem solving
• It helps you to develop regular study habits (which will help with years 10-12)
• It gives you time for important ideas to sink in

TIMES: 

All students are expected to complete some homework each week. Homework, which is completing work set in class, should be finished in time for the next lesson. Other work (eg. assignments) that are to be completed over a duration of time should be planned to ensure they are completed by the due date.

As a guide you may like to consider the following:

Years 7 and 8 – 1 hour, 4 nights/week

Years 9 and 10 – 1.5 hours, 4 nights/week

Year 11 – 2 hours, 5 nights/week

Year 12 – 3 hours, 5 nights/week

FOR PARENTS: 

Parents are encouraged to help or monitor students with their homework. Parents are encouraged to monitor XUNO for work tasks and communicate to teachers if they have questions.
